IPO of 2008-VISA

Buy Visa. It was a mistake to not have picked up MasterCard when it IPO’d in the 50’s. Now it is at 210. Visa won’t enjoy similar success because it was not the first of the two to go public. However, credit card companies are a monopoly of three: VISA, MasterCard, and Discover. Time to buy VISA in 2008.-JDA

2008 Prediction: FIDELITY ANNOUNCES PLANS TO GO PUBLIC

I might be going out on a limb here, but in the spirit of the New Year and making predictions here is one. Fidelity announces it will go public. IPO in 2009. The Boston based compan has been a little too quite lately and the world has become all the more competitive. Fidelity has a warchest of funds and a strong brand, but realizes to compete it must deploy its resources quicl. The door has been revolving pretty fast over there. This is yet another reason to start filing the S-1.-JDA

Not a Marathon Its SPRINT

Sprint announced today it appointed Daniel Hesse formerly CEO of Embarq. Here is a classic example of a industry veteran with a track record to prove his worth. He increased Embarq stock price 50% since taking over. Today Sprint (S) is trading at 13 and change. I suspect that by the end of 2008 or 12/19/2008 it is up to 22.-JDA

Strong Franchises Worth Their Weight In Gold; Buy MERRILL LYNCH

While I am not completely sold on the Goldmanization of Merrill Lynch with the arrival of John Thain he has a track record and I think he will be able to turnaround the franchise. Having just read a biography of Charles Merrill I definetely believe the company is an excellent business model and maintains the best brokerage operation in the country even to this day. Merrill currently trades at 58.81 . I expect it to return 40% by Decemebr 13, 2008. -JDA

The Return of the US NAVY and other Navies

The U.S. Navy which has remained relatively quite during the Iraq War will now seen as a critical part of the U.S. foreign policy plan. The 5th Fleet has already moved into position in the Gulf as an attempt to check Iran’s power. Many have questioned the importance of the Navy in any era of guerrila style global terrorism which is mainly being waged on land. However, given the fact that the earth is stil 2/3 ocean and globalization is picking up as never been seen it will be important for countries to maintain their soverignty by using navies and other means to secure their power. On this same note look for shipbuilding stocks to rise such as GENERAL DYNAMICS and others. As of today GD is 92.91 on December 12, 2007. Look for a 35% return by 12.12.2008.-JDA
